Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Almost Spoil What We Already Know About The Inhumans
Did we even have to ask what the future of The Inhumans on ABC is?
After a disastrous first outing, watched by a very few diehard Marvel fans alone, someone actually asked what the future of The Inhumans series is. This despite the fact that ABC suddenly renewed Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for a fifth season after all rumor-mongering said that The Inhumans would take their position on the ABC calendar year for 2017-2018. And also despite the evidence before our eyes that instead of a Spring half-season as originally stated, ABC then changed their minds again and gave us an AoS full season, starting just as soon as they could remove The Inhumans from their calendar.
All that happened before The Inhumans even aired their premiere episode on ABC. So what do you think the fate of that poor show is?
Well, someone asked Ming-Na Wen, at the Heroes & Villains Fan Fest this week. Specifically, they asked — since Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is now out in space — if there might be a crossover between the S.H.I.E.L.D. team and the Inhumans hanging out on the moons. After all, YoYo brought it up in the opening episode on Friday and everything.
Wen’s response? Priceless.
“I think that show got—”
Yeah, girl. I think we all thought that. In fact, I’m almost 100% certain it will be, just as soon as ABC can announce it without causing peals of laughter from the audience.
Though considering that the Disney is about to buy 20th Century FOX story just roared back to life this morning, perhaps the plan is to simply bury the embarrassment that was The Inhumans in the much grander announcement that the X-Men will be joining the MCU come Phase IV? The Inhumans, as most comic fans know, were merely X-Men knockoffs that the imprint has been promoting on and off.
Oddly enough, the promotion of The Inhumans always seemed to coincide with the demise of another deal with FOX to bring the X-Men back into the fold. Now with Disney posed to simply buy the whole damn company out, as a power play against Comcast with bonus instant gratification of a Marvel reunions, perhaps it will be time to retire them all together.
