Avengers: Infinity War Trailer Promises It Will Be A Good Movie
The Avengers: Infinity War Trailer is here, and it looks…. good?
This May, Avengers: Infinity War will attempt a feat no studio has ever accomplished. It will push the boundaries of how many starring character superheroes can be crammed into one two hour roll of celluloid without melting. Marvel has not done that well with these films so far, which have ridden to box office highs on sheer novelty, rather than as good films that will hold up on a rewatch. (No, seriously, go back and watch The Avengers from 2012 and tell me it holds up.)
To remind you just how many stars we’re talking about here, a short list of those currently confirmed cast members for Avengers: Infinity War: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Mackie, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olson, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Sebastian Stan, Don Cheadle, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Pom Klementieff, Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Sean Gunn, Tom Holland, Josh Brolin, and Paul Rudd.
And that’s just the main cast.
But this…. this looks like they might succeed. Against all odds. It helps that the directors are Anthony and Joe Russo, who are responsible for the best Marvel movie up until Thor: Ragnarok arrived this month, Captain America: Winter Soldier. As it is, one can see that Cap is one of their favorites. Get this man a shield.
It certainly is a well-cut trailer, and if the movie can even live up to half the promise of it, I think they’ll have done more than anyone could reasonably expect. Especially since this two part extravaganza is expected to be the swan song for at least two or three of them.
Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War will arrive in theaters May 4, 2018. The still-untitled second half of the film will arrive a year later, on May 3, 2019.
