Doctor Who Season 10: “Oxygen” Preview
This week’s episode of Doctor Who finds all three of our heroes abandoning the Vault for an adventure deep in space.
This week’s episode finds not only the Doctor and Bill heading out to a rescue mission somewhere in deep space, but Nardole too. After all Nardole’s admonishments and scoldings, why is he leaving Earth to go adventuring? Nevermind that, who’s guarding the Vault?
This episode sees the return of writer Jamie Mathieson who did Series 8’s wonderful episode “Flatline”. Check out the synopsis.
The Doctor, Bill and Nardole answer a distress call in deep space, and find themselves trapped on board space station Chasm Forge. All but four of the crew have been murdered – and the dead are still walking! In a future where oxygen is sold by the breath, and space suits are valued more highly than their occupants, the TARDIS crew battle for survival against the darkest evil of all…
Much like they do every week, the BBC has released two preview clips. Here’s the one from earlier this week–apparently this is a spaceship that really doesn’t want the occupants to be able to breathe.
We can assume then it was manufactured and programmed by the GOP and the Tory parties. Moffat all but confirms that too.
Meanwhile, in the new clip out this morning, we at least get an idea why Nardole is involved in this adventure.
Next time, Nardole, I suggest going out and getting that packet of crisps. At least that way someone will stay and guard the vault.
Meanwhile, watching the Peter Capaldi and Pearl Mackie intro, it suddenly struck me that this is yet another “Moffat spacesuit horror episode”. How many of those have there been now?
Now we know Bill won’t die–or at least if she does, she won’t stay that way. But one has to wonder, between that and the high chance that the Vault will open by the end of the hour, how much the Doctor will regret not listening to himself?
As always, a mess of pictures from the episode below. “Oxygen” airs tomorrow at the slightly earlier time of 7:15pm BST on BBC One and at 9pm EST on BBC America.
