The Top Ten Looks of The Democratic National Convention
They say that Politics is Hollywood for ugly people. But the DNC was the fashion fest of the week, with several of the big names showing up in designer duds. Let’s look over the best and the…politically questionable.
Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner
Michelle O has been a fashion plate on par with Jackie O for the 21st century. But the best part is she does it without only being a fashion plate. She accessorized this Christian Siriano dress with the Best Delivered Speech of the Convention and a thoughtful, serious and above all, intelligent attitude.
Michelle’s likely successor wore a surprisingly blue pantsuit for his first outing as potential FGOTUS. It popped well on camera, but the blue on blue on blue on blue with the tie and the background shows that he’s still slightly amateurish at these things. Next time, his fashion team should find out what color the backdrop with be.
Chelsea Clinton’s dress was the needed dose of red between the blue and the white, and reminded everyone she was always the one who stood between her parents and tied them together.
Gandalf the White doesn’t have anything on that pantsuit. It’s also far more practical for traveling trying to defeat the evil of Mordor.
Wearing the best shade of the four-day convention, Representative Joyce Beatty of Ohio shot to the top of the A list of outfits with a plag….ahm, homage dress to Melania Trump.
Tim Kaine accessorized his pinstriped dad worthy suit with colorful balloons and a playful attitude. He also recommends for those who have to stand under those hot lights to drink plenty of water and if anyone needs, he has throat lozenges handy.
It may have looked like the sort of dress that your over patriotic elementary school teacher wears on flag day, but this $450 Catherine Malandrino designed number has already sold out.
The dos and don’t of silver. Here is the do, modeled by Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, who wore it to gavel into the convention.
Here is the don’t. Katy Perry’s Michael Kors number was too long and too severe looking (especially with the hair which looked like it would make a hairbrush run in fear.)
Crisp, clean, and perfect for passing the baton from one administration to the next with a hug.
