Cannes 2016 Red Carpet Round Up
The Cannes Film Festival has been happening over on the Rivera in France for the last few days, and as the event winds down, it’s time for us to take a gander at the best of the red carpet looks from the last few days.
Now, for those who are unfamiliar with the Cannes Film Festival, this red carpet is a little different than others. because it’s over the course of several days, we have actresses who show up two and tree times over the course of the week, so we can measure their looks against each other. We also get a nice cross-section of foreign-born actresses who don’t do a lot of American films on the Red Carpet for a breath of fresh air.
Take for example, Sonam Kapoor sporting this very femme Ralph and Russo showstopper. She’s not one we get to see very often–and it’s a treat when we do.
Indian actress Aishwarya Rai showed up three times, all in Indian homegrown designers.
Personally of the three the third was my favorite.
It’s just the purple lipstick I’m not sold on.
Another trio of looks, like this from Blake Lively.
Her first two gowns were Versace and trying a bit too hard
I thought her third look, a Vivienne Westwood, suited her best.
Julianne Moore showed up three times.
She wore three different designers: McQueen (above), Givinchy (center), and Vuitton (below.)
None of it worked.
A two shot for Jessica Chastain, here in McQueen
And in a different shade of gold in Armani. I prefer the design of the second, but the color of the first.
A Naomi Watts two-fer. Both are minimalist looks.
But unlike this Michael Kors sack, the Armani above is at least not shapeless.
Kristen Stewart doing exactly the same thing.
Just in two different looks.
A two set from Thai actress Araya Hargate. The top is Gautier, the bottom Ralph and Russo.
Both are pretty fabulous.
Johnny Depp’s wife, Vanessa Paradis in Chanel
Their daughter Lily-Rose, in the same.
Amal Clooney. They seem to make it their business to be at these things now.
Anna Kendrick in a very similar look, right down to the handsome arm candy in a tux.
Bella Hadid, who I think we blame Taylor Swift for making a thing.
French actress Bianca Balti in Alberta Ferretti and awesome shoes.
Cheryl Cole, in her take on the sexy embroidered doily.
Eva Longoria, pretending she’s not upset Telenova got axed last week.
Gong Li in Cavalli Couture. You’re welcome.
Zuo An Xiao, in a local Chinese designer. You see why I wish we got to see these women more often?
Israeli actress Hofit Golan in Jean Fares Couture, which looks a bit like a melting Dali painting.
Julia Roberts, who has been doing this too long to care if you think her black gown is basic.
Kendall Jenner, who was only invited if she’s wear something see thru and make headlines. (She clearly complied.)
Kristen Dunst, going the opposite route and covering up to her neck.
Marion Cotillard, who looks like she’d rather be elsewhere. (It doesn’t help that her Dior is really dull.)
Riley Keough in Gucci. Who? Lisa Marie Presley’s daughter, if you must know.
Go away Susan Sarandon. Seriously.
