Wow! A five story Cat Condo, full occupancy. Reservations required.

Yesterday I decided to splurge on a holiday indulgence. Folio Society tempted me with a hardcover, illustrated, quality British Printing of The Princess Bride in a slipcover. It should arrive just as the February blahs hit. This will replace my battered mass market paperback from about 35 years ago. I first came across the book when the duel scene (including Westley climbing the cliffs) was excerpted in a 1980 anthology as an example of exemplary writing.

Has anyone else engaged in a 12th night extravagance or have a tale of serendipitous discovery?

One can rarely go wrong with purchasing books. I made a promise to myself that I was only going to buy non-fiction, but even there I have a long list of books I want.

Re 12th night extravagance, I cannot tell lie, I decided I needed some cheering up. So I bought new (much needed) hiking boots and winter gloves. Though I might need to exchange the boots for a smaller size. I also bought myself a nice bottle of wine since I was sick over New Years and couldn’t celebrate.

I am *not* looking forward to my holiday credit card bills – between siblings, the many nephews and nieces, and various holiday supplies (wine for Xmas dinner, etc), it’s going to be ugly.

  2. That’s very impressive!!! Did you make it yourself?
